Description
Here is a very simple and effective way not to loose your belaying device when you repel, particularly when climbing ice, at high altitude, or anywhere your gloves hamper your movements. A small rope is attached on one end to your harness leg with a girth hitch and to the other end to the belaying device. This allows using the device for repelling, belaying your partner, or hanging it to your harness without impairing your maneuvers. What a time saver! When you reach the end of a repel, you just have to unclip the rope from your carabiner and pull the belaying device to free the ropes without fear of loosing it.How to do it
What you need:A small rope 2/3 mm in diameter and about 65 cm long. One end is attached to the belaying device, the other forms a ring about 10 to 15 cm long (see photos).
